we call it "Urban lo-fi" on a three track e.p. with fresh sounds from berlin and elsewhere. electric bass and guitar, drums and vocals.
these are complemented by awsome remixes by area and dreamlogicc, sternenspringer, xenoton and mec allemand himself ...adding up to an 8track release between dub, headnodding, elektro and yes "urban lo-fi"....

mephuser is an experimental electronic project based in berlin/germany. its sample-based music (layered composition) is influenced by low-hi electronics, sounds/textures, field recordings and psychedelics.
to describe this album, which took two years to create, seems to be impossible at all. mephuser takes us on a tour through his world and beyond. he shows us the diversity of his stylistic ideas by letting them slip into this kaleidoscope of tracks. you won't stay in one place for too long as mephuser is always already round the next corner with something new for you. but this album is neither just a conglomeration nor the mere, cold proof of musical excellence: it is a composition like a day, a year or a life in 50 minutes.

Andreas Usenbenz (live elektronik) und Gregor Quade (Piano) arbeiteten schon in diversen Projekten zusammen. Bei ihrem aktuellen Duo "free_quenz" jedoch geht es vielmehr um die Improvisation mit Klang. Quade entzaubert seinem Flügel bezaubernde Harmonien aber auch einzelne, kaum wahrnehmbare Schwingungen, die gleichwohl von Usenbenz aufgefangen, behutsam transformiert und auch (neu) - interpretiert werden. Der Zuhörer wird eingeladen, sich auf eine Reise zu begeben, die auf Wegen jenseits heutiger „Teerstraßen“ statt fndet.
Nicht Roh und holprig, sondern weich und voller neuer Eindrücke.
Klanglandschaften bewegen sich minimalistisch durch den Raum und geben Zeit zum horchen.
